Tampa Bay Council of
World Affairs programs are held monthly and are open to
individuals interested in international affairs and business. Meeting dates
are held days which compliment the schedule of the Speakers
preferably on Friday's to allow visiting speakers to remain
in the area for the weekend. The program speakers will be announced
at least one month in advance. Each program will be designed to give
specific Off-The-Record information on a specific issue and
to offer interesting and helpful insight into various cultures
worldwide.

5, 2009 General David H. Petraeus will address members of the Tampa
Bay Council of World Affairs and invited business, civic,
institutional and governmental leaders and officials from across Tampa Bay as
part of its Distinguished Speakers Leadership Series The special evening reception and dinner program is co-hosted
with the US Global Leadership Coalition, a Washington, D.C. based
organization dedicated to promoting global leadership issues, and
challenges of the 21st century.
The invitation-only
dinner and reception will be held at the Renaissance Hotel,
International Mall, Tampa. The Tampa Bay Council of World Affairs
and US Global Leadership Coalition has extended advance invitations to
more than 500 regional leaders with chambers of commerce, business, civic,
community, governmental and elected officials from across the Tampa Bay
area. Council members and guests to attend the dinner including a
reception
for General Petraeus, members of the 61 Nation Coalition,
Tampa Bay leaders and dignitaries prior to the dinner.
General Petraeus will speak on the
role of the 61 Nation Coalition in the Middle East and the
Afghanistan war. He will also discuss the extraordinary global
challenges and opportunities of the 21st century call for a new
vision of America's engagement in the world, involving effective use
of development, diplomacy, and defense. The senior officers of the
61 Nation Coalition are invited guests.
All invited attendees are complimentary guests
of the Council of World Affairs and the US Global Leadership

FLORIDA CONFERENCE ON GLOBAL TRADE
Co-hosted by the Florida
Economic Development Council (FEDC), Hillsborough County Economic
Development & Enterprise Florida
The first
statewide conference on International Trade in over 10 years will
address global trade opportunities for Florida business. The program
will include presentations from Enterprise Florida International
Offices, US Trade Administration Commercial Attaches,
and INTRADE Association of South & Central America Trade
Commissioners, plus a series \of workshops focusing on Cuba, Panama,
Mexico, Europe and China, as well workshops on Customs and
Immigration.

Council of World Affairs

stay informed of important international economic, political,
cultural and travel issues along with opportunities to develop new
business abroad through cultural exchange that creates better

Tampa Bay Global Business Initiative provides its members
with opportunities to become globally aware of economic, energy,
global warming, political, cultural and travel topics and to
develop new personal insight of important world events. Members
also enjoy the potential for business and personal relationships
with individuals from around the world through monthly luncheon
forums and receptions to meet visiting dignitaries, military and
governmental officials, business leaders, academic and
environmental experts, as well as recognized journalists invited
to address members on important business, environmental, cultural,
political or travel related subjects.

The International Visitors Council which is part of
the Tampa Bay World Affairs Council offers opportunities to
provide a venue and network to visiting international dignitaries,
foreign officials, academic experts, business executives and
recognized journalists to address some of the major issues facing
different parts of the world and to learn more about foreign
markets and countries. Emphasis will be on creating a deeper
understanding of cultures and the thinking of foreign leaders,
plus making members feel more comfortable traveling in countries
around the world.

Council of World Affairs gives world minded citizens an
opportunity to hear from international experts and high level
dignitaries
about their perspective of world affairs and also to
enlighten members on the cultures of their nations. It comes at a
time when America’s image around the world needs improvement and
Americans need to be more aware of global affairs and how they
impact us locally.

The Tampa Bay Coalition Relations Committee is part of
the
Council of World Affairs with a single mission of providing a
venue to introduce members of the 61 nation coalition located at
Central Command Headquarters at MacDill AFB to the Tampa Bay area.

Local community and business leaders will be invited in
each of the regions giving members an opportunity to establish
more of a personal connection and to learn more about Tampa
Bay’s diverse communities.

A special booklet will be prepared with information on
the arts, real estate, restaurants, attractions, etc. It will
include a map of the region and location of various points of
interest.

Every effort will be made to make Coalition Members feel
welcome in Tampa Bay. With each event, a local person will be
assigned to stay with the Coalition Members to make introductions
to people in attendance.
All meetings are open for members to have Question & Answer sessions with speakers.
Subjects can vary from cultural to politics to business to leisure
and travel.
P rograms will
start with a report of 'Travel Alerts and US State Department
'Hot
Spots' in the world. We will ask members to share any recent travel
experiences... good, bad or otherwise.
